Apprenticeship toolkit

Social media for employer engagement

Social media provides a great set of tools for engaging with both apprentices and employers.

The benefits are similar for both.

Digital information can be updated more easily than printed paper.

You can measure the effectiveness of your advertising more easily through digital channels. You may how many brochures you sent out but do you know how many were read? With online interactions you can also ascertain things like how many people opened an attachment, clicked on a web link and liked a piece of information.

Examples of effective practice

HIT Training makes effective use of Twitter for employer engagement including announcing live broadcasts that can be viewed using Periscope. They also publish success stories on their website.

The Bridge to Work scheme at Loughborough College uses video conferencing to allow learners to engage directly with employers fostering routes into both employment and apprenticeships. Find out more.
